#TogetherWeAreUnshakable: At the My Sisters Health Watch UN Conference

Wednesday Love 💖

How are you this morning? I feel like I have spasms – emotional reaction to dragging my jet lagged arse out of bed to continue with 9-5 after the glitz and glamour of NYC + this link below:

Excuse me, WHAT? Apparently, the Nigeria Senate on Tuesday blocked a bill seeking equal marital rights for women. On what grounds? Clever clogs who decided this?

At the My Sisters Health Watch UN Conference on Monday where I sat with senior health officials of member states, one of the points I raised is the fact that the insufficient budget is one problem, another is the allocation of the actual budget. Yes we need equipment and capital expenditure, but we also need awareness. If every woman is fully aware that she is unshakable and ultimately accountable for her overall wellbeing, she will begin to understand that she needs to be cleansed inside out – food, exercise, healthcare checks will run in parallel with understanding that domestic violence – mental, physical, emotional abuse on the grounds of gender or just because they can, because we are ‘the weaker sex’, will no longer be accepted. I sat beside Alhaja Jummai Al-Hassan (a.k.a) (Senator – Taraba State, Nigeria) and I wanted to leap over and kiss her when she declared the sorry state of affairs a Human Rights issue, because it is.

Sally Chiwuzie here, red sunglasses still on as I furiously type up this blog in a carriage full of strangers – I am so tempted to ask if anyone knows what it means to be unshakable. Dream chasing and legacy building are on track. Continuous improvement sees me vowing to follow this through. When you see Mama Taraba and other members of MSHW on TV representing My Sisters Health Watch, as a stakeholder, I shall be right behind her! Until then, this post right here…this is my little contribution to awareness until May when I will raise this again in NYC UN Headquarters. Together we are unshakable!

Lots of love,
Unshakable Sally xxx
